Born in Maribor in Slovenia, Vito Žuraj studied composition under Marko Mihevc in Ljubljana, with Lothar Voigtländer at the University of Dresden, and finally with Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe. Žuraj holds a Master’s degree in computer music under Thomas A. Troge. From 2009 to 2010, he was a student in composition at the Ensemble Modern’s international academy in Frankfort and in 2010 took part in the composition seminar offered by the same ensemble. He has perfected his technique via numerous summer classes with today’s top composers including Brian Ferneyhough, Wolfgang Mitterer, Toshio Hosokawa, Michael Jarrell, and Johannes Schöllhorn.
