Upon completion of her viola studies in Strasbourg with Claude Ducrocq, Geneviève Strosser studied with Serge Collot and Jean Sulem at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. She has performed with today’s top contemporary music ensembles including the Ensemble Modern Frankfort until 2000 as well as the Chamber Orchestra of Europe under the batons of Claudio Abbado, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, and Carlo Maria Giulini.

Geneviève Strosser also performs chamber music with partners such as Gordan Nikolitch, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Muriel Cantoreggi, and was a member of the Vellinger quartet. She has performed in renowned concert halls and European festivals, as a soloist with the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig, Radio Hilversum, SWR Stuttgart, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the Bayerische Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfort Radio, and SWR Fribourg.

Geneviève Strosser’s repertoire includes the great works for viola from the 20th century, and she works closely with today’s composers: George Benjamin, Heinz Holliger, Helmut Lachenmann, Stefano Gervasoni. She has been an important part in the creation of several of Georges Aperghis’ works and performs in his works for musical theater (Commentaires and Machinations).

Alongside her activities as a performer, she teaches in several European cities. In January 2011, Aeon released a recording of a recital following the recording of George Benjamin’s Viola- Viola and works for solo viola by Georges Aperghis.
