Rendezvous: Fundamental Forces, June 11
Born in Arnhem in the Netherlands, Tarik Barri lived with his family in Saudi Arabia from the ages of 5 to 10. It was there, in the loneliness imposed by this move, at the age of 7, that he began programming on the family computer. Quickly bored of video games, he became interested in the creation of virtual universes. This is how he came to electronic music at the age of 16.
After the publication of his earliest music at the age of 21, he abandoned his studies in biology and psychology to pursue music and technology at the art school in Utrecht. There, he realized that the procedures he had the habit of using for musical creation could also be applied to the creation of animated images. Using tools like Max, Java, and Supercollider, today he is developing software for audiovisual performances and composition, looking for new synergies and aesthetics in the combination of image and sound.
