The vocal ensemble EXAUDI was founded by the composer and conductor James Weeks and the soprano Juliet Fraser. Made up of young singers from the United Kingdom, these singers and their director place today’s music at the heart of their repertoire. They have performed works by Salvatore Sciarrino, Wolfgang Rihm, Michael Finnissy, Richard Ayres, Christopher Fox, and James Saunders. Through its new commissioning scheme, EXAUDI is particularly committed to the younger generation of composers, and is proud to champion the work of major emerging voices including James Weeks and Claudia Molitor.
Since 2006, the ensemble has participated in the major festivals in the United Kingdom such as Petworth, City of London, or Spitalfields, and has been invited to the Festival of Aldeburgh. They also take part in festivals in Strasbourg, Milan/Turin, and Madrid. EXAUDI works with the London Sinfonietta and record for BBC Radio 3. In 2010, the ensemble performed Cantate égale pays by Gérard Pesson at the Centre Pompidou. In 2011, the singers performed works by John Cage at the Théâtre de la Ville/Festival d’Automne à Paris. In 2012, EXAUDI celebrated its 10th anniversary with an international tour. EXAUDI is supported by the PRS Foundation.
