Ashley Fure

Ashley Fure is an American composer of acoustic and electroacoustic concert music as well as multimedia installation art. She holds a PhD  from Harvard University where she worked with Chaya Czernowin and further degrees from IRCAM (Cursus 1 and 2), Oberlin Conservatory (B.Mus), and the Interlochen Arts Academy.

Prizes and recognition include a 2103-14 Fulbright Fellowship to France, a 2013 Impuls International Composition Prize,  a 2012 Darmstadt Stipendienpreis, a 2012 Staubach Honorarium, a 2012 Jezek Prize, a 10-month residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude, an Adalbert W. Sprague Prize, two ISCM World Music Days nominations, a George Arthur Knight Prize, an SCI/ASCAP Young Composer’s Prize, an IAWM Pauline Oliveros Prize, and a Blodgett Composition Prize.  In September 2014, Fure will join the Music Department at Columbia University as a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow.

Currently completing commissions for Dal Niente and Klangforum Wien, Fure has also worked with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Curious Chamber Players, Talea Ensemble, Arditti Quartet, Ensemble SurPlus, Ensemble Nikel, Calithumpian Consort, and eighth blackbird, and attended the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music, the Tzlil Meudcan New Music Academy, the Schloss Solitude Summer Academy, the Acanthes Music Festival, and the American Academy in Fontainebleau, France.
